In 2009 VB Leasing Romania pursued a strategy of undertaking distribution activities with such business partners as Terra Romania (in the areas of construction and transport) and with such dealers as Honda Accord. Romania's boats trade fair proved to be a good platform for the offering of the financing that we supply in the area of equipment. To improve our position on the second-hand market, we have concentrated our activities on effectively utilising the group-wide remarketing platform. We also optimised in-house and third party processes, so as to increase our speed and efficiency of customer service.
Romania's leasing market was strongly affected in 2009 by the economic crisis and significant recovery is not expected for 2010. A central focus of all national leasing companies is therefore to maintenan and strengthen the leasing market, as well as portfolio maintenance, which is vital to securing the market position. VB Leasing Romania will also focus on optimising their portfolio in 2010, with an additional focus on increasing leasing volume. Economic experts are forecasting a slight rise for the leasing market in financial year 2010, leading VB Leasing Romania to regard the future with optimism.

The leasing market has been surrendered in the past few years to major legislative and strategic changes. In spite of this, an accelerated increase rhythm has been observed on the emerging market and profile players have anticipated a sustained growth of the demand on the entire Romanian market. Still dominated by the automobile segment, the leasing market has begun to make space also for the financing of equipment, a sector that will quickly catch the interest of the leasing companies in the context of the current economic development.
No other subject has given the press and the specialists such a headache in the last few months as the global financial crisis and its effects on the economy. The distortions of the market and the recession have really affected everybody. The world economy doesn’t face a “year of accomplishments” and everybody is faced every step of the way with new challenges. In spite of this, we leave the “dark thoughts” for others to worry about, because for the leasing domain and especially for VB Leasing we have foreseen many opportunities, which will continue the positive development of the previous year.
2008 was primarily a year of consolidation for VB Leasing, which has brought strategic changes to the personnel chart and has been a preparation for the implementation of new software, which will allow the increase of efficiency in the company, as well as the improvement of the services offered to our clients and partners.
Europe stands for the oldest, greatest and the most dynamic leasing market in the world. In 2006, European leasing companies financed items which were worth 297.5 billion Euros, namely more than half of the global participation. According to the information received from Leas Europe (European Federation of Leasing Company Associations), the importance of leasing as a form of investment financing is rapidly growing across Europe. National markets face an ever growing competition. More and more competitors emerge and leasing companies react by simplifying the procedures, by increasing portfolios and seeking niches and advantages to set them apart from their competitors.
In 2007, the Association for Leasing and Non-banking Financial Services (ALB) recorded a 6.1% increase in terms of financing. This year stands for a new chapter in the successful story of VB Leasing Romania. We can gladly inform you that VB Leasing enjoyed in 2007 a considerable growth, which shows that the company managed to impose itself well on the local leasing market and proves that there are more and more clients on this market who are interested in our products and who embrace the financial safety we provide.
The financed volume recorded by the end of 2007, namely 161 million Euros, indicates an increase by 25% in comparison with the previous year when the financed volume stood at 129 million Euros.
VB Leasing imposed itself on the market this year as well, due to its offer of high standard services and through a vast coverage of the market.
